FIRST EVENT HUGE SUCCESS Despite a massive thunderstorm, the first player’s event in Gauteng on the 29th January at the Verwey Driving Range was a huge success with players coming from as far away as Cape Town.
With energy being supplied by Piranha Energy Drinks the competitors were keen to show off their talents.
A hit list of the best in the country competing for top honours on the day resulted in the top 17 competitors crashing the ball in excess of the three hundred meter mark. A feat I am sure most of us aspire toward.
The longest distance achieved on the day by popular Pretoria competitor Rynardt Combrinck edging out a keen David Melman and newcomer Jonty Dolgoy {an amateur to boot} to take top qualifying honours for the day.
With Seniors like Koos Nel hitting it up there with the big boys I am sure some fierce competition will be seen at the next event.
A provisional handicap assessment has been performed {after the fact} to illustrate how the Long Drive Handicap (LDH) will be applied in the future. So for all you not so long hitters that are looking to challenge your mates come along and we will develop your handicap over the next few events. Competition with the best of the best on a level playing field- and you didn't think it was possible!
