Barry Steen - recognised as Mr. Longdrive in South Africa and long drive enthusiast founded LONGDRIVE-SA in 2005:

For Competitors
As a competitor one will strive to compete and become a longer ‘hitter’ of the golf ball.
LONGDRIVE-SA will provide you with the opportunity to compete against South Africa’s longest and most consistent competitors on a bi-monthly basis.
In addition to this there will be daily prize money accumulating towards an Order of Merit for the professional competitor.
Amateur competitors will compete for prizes as well as club honours on the day.
In the USA the event has been highly competitive for many years. With in excess of 200 players competing in the
RE/MAX World Finals for prize money of over $100 000,00. The event has truly become a world leader.
The weekend golfer is not forgotten in this wave of intensity- a long drive handicap (LDH) will be calculated
for all amateurs members through the year. This will level the playing field making it possible for the amateurs
to measure their worth against the professional long drivers. Imagine competing against your best mate and
getting a 20 metre head start!
Anyone interested in the sport of long driving is welcome to compete or come for an exciting few hours of
entertainment! Bring the family, we guarantee you will not be disappointed. This is a tour for the South African public.
Competitive options for all – no matter what size, age, ability or talent - everyone is welcome.
